BNSF Albany Jct.

When I decided to update my layout it took a long time for decisions and now have decieded to do a BNSF Jct. layout with a branch, it was a simple figure 8 layout for Santa Fe high-nose GP7 now it will be a BNSF main street run by a freight yard and a figure 8 branch (the origanal) and staging wings.

The staging wings are of unknown length they should fit the longest train (California Zephyr). The made-up town of Albany has a Con-Agria grain elevator on the east side of town, the station by downtown with stops by the Amtrak Illinois Zephyr, but not the Amtrak California Zephyr because of hight and space of the grain elevator. A Gas & Oil Company will be on the north side of Albany. On the south side of town there will be a freight yard low key like BNSF Mendota, IL. The yard will be 3 tracks wide not including the 2 main tracks (aprox. 1 foot wide, 4 feet long) the 2 mains will provide more action there is a portion that is street running and that is only single main until the end crossing on the southeastern side the freight yard consists of a drill track, next to main 2 then a track where work trains uncouple from their train to work on the branch while the swicher works on organizing the train and the last track is for cars to be sitting when the swicher is working on a different part of the train and the swicher also rests there when not working. The layout will be a 5×8 (not including the staging wings).

  1. BNSF Albany Jct. Bloopers :(

Due to space limitations in the room the California Zephyr will not be able to run.

The Albany Oil & Gas due to size and track plan (I anticipated too much) will not be a industry. It is replaced with Hoffa Cement and soon to be 1-2 cilos.
